Financial Leeds - Connect with opportunity

Our new Chair Joanne Lake and I managed to visit a couple of our great businesses yesterday.

World Cup 2018? In Leeds? What a prize to go for…and a few people have been saying that they are more confident of Leeds’ bid than they are of England’s.

We had the pleasure of hosting Lionel Barber, editor of the Financial Times in the city yesterday. I’m pleased to report that he left with a very positive impression, in terms of how strong the network is in Leeds and how we have a common voice on the strengths and issues that we face.

Today is exactly one year on from taking the role here at Financial Leeds, or LFSI as it was then.

Just how important is Leeds United to the Leeds brand and the economy of the region? Hopelessly unscientific but 2.7m of the 41m Google hits (less than 7%) on Leeds are specifically “Leeds United” related.
