Having said that, I was hugely envious of the new conference facilities on the banks of the Mersey, and reminded of the uncertain position of the prospective Leeds Arena. The leadership in the Council remain very bullish about seeing it through  -  let’s hope it’s possible. We need a big visible win in the City and if we are serious about being the number 1 place to live and work then the Arena becomes a ‘hygiene factor’   - you’ve just got to have one!
